Our work with the Fairy Bricks Charity

Everyone loves Lego don’t they? I know that I do, and I’m in my forties. And how the company has come on from the days when I used to play with those colourful bricks.

Over the years Lego have cleverly got in with the big film companies and produced endless well-known mini figures from a range of iconic films. Indiana Jones characters, endless Batman’s and characters from the films, Back to The Future brick figures, Harry Potter and pals, Pulp Fiction mini-figures, many characters from the 007 franchise including the main man himself, obviously. The list goes on…

You wouldn’t think the world of Lego and charity would sit comfortably together, but while looking for unique charities to support, I stumbled across Fairy Bricks and straight away loved what they did. The charity based in Huddersfield collects Lego and distributes them to children’s wards and child-specific hospitals. Brilliant… just brilliant – supporting kids in their most vulnerable and in unfamiliar surroundings with the familiar… the fun… what’s not to like!!??

So, after discussing Fairy Bricks at one of our trustee meetings, we decided we’d make a donation. It would be a one-off initially, to review over time. Upon receiving the donation, the Head Fairy (a title I love) Kevin Gasgoin sent heartfelt thanks, telling us how much it would help. Now, with a new focus on expanding the radius of charities we support and keen to give to those that are a little quirky, but definitely deserving, I think it is fair to say that our trust is keen to make future donations to Fairy Bricks and think of some unique fundraisers for them too.
